WASHINGTON â The 2011 Toyota Prius is the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the U.S., says the EPA in its annual rating of fuel winners and losers. The 2011 Bugatti Veyron is the worst.
The EPA said the Prius delivers 51 mpg in city driving and 48 mpg on the highway. The Veyron delivers 8 mpg in city driving and 15 mpg on the highway.
Three Ford vehicles took the number-two spot in the EPA’s 2011 top-10 list. They are the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid, the 2011 Mercury Milan and the 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. They all deliver 41 mpg in city driving and 36 mpg on the highway. The 2011 Ford E-350 Wagon was rated the second-worst when it comes to fuel economy, delivering 10 mpg in city driving and 13 mpg on the highway.
As expected, some of the hottest vehicles on the market made the “lowest fuel economy” list. They include the 2011 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG, which delivers 11 mpg in city driving and 13 mpg on the highway. The 2011 Bentley Continental GTC also made the “lowest” list, along with the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe and Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. All of those vehicles deliver 11 mpg in city driving and 18 mpg on the highway.
Toyota made a strong showing on the 10 best list. Its fuel-economy leaders include the 2011 Lexus RX 450h and the 2011 Lexus HS 250h. Several Honda vehicles also made the 10-best list. They include the 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid and 2011 Honda Insight Hybrid.
